Longest.Run.Ever.

After a lot of anticipation and psyching ourselves up, we finally broke the 13.1 mile barrier and ran 14 MILES today! Here is the map of our run:

We ran from our apartment out to Venice Blvd. and headed north on Fairfax. We crossed through Little Ethiopia on our way to Hollywood. We got to Santa Monica Blvd. and started to head west through West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Century City and back into our neighborhood in West LA.

I think we were both a bit worried about this run since we had never done that much distance before. However, we are realizing more and more that so much of running is mental. No, I'm not saying that we're crazy (well maybe). What I'm saying is that when we have to run 3 miles, something about that distance on that day is tough and when we have to run 14 miles it's equally tough. Hopefully that means our 16 miler next weekend will still be challenging without us dreading it the whole time. It's hard to believe in just a few weeks we'll have to run 20 miles and then 3 weeks after that the daunting 26.2.

We are also beginning our fundraising efforts this week. We have decided to run for the National MS Society and MS Rockstarts in honor of my Aunt Bettie who has MS. You can read all about her and our efforts at our fundraising page. Any donation you can make will greatly help our cause. I will be posting more about this in the coming weeks.
