Out With The Old, In With The New Balance

It's been a few weeks since our last post mostly because we finished our most recent half marathon and we took some time off from working out.  But, now we're trying to get back into running and the first step for me was new shoes. During our last 2 half marathons, I noticed that during the longer runs I was experiencing some pain right in the arch of my right foot. I have been running in some very supportive Brooks shoes that work well for flat footed people like me but they were not allowing my foot to move very much. So, I visited our local running store, Top to Top, and the Shoe Doctor there recommended the New Balance M1260.

So far so good with this shoe.  It much lighter, I can feel the arch support and after 2 runs my feet didn't hurt quite as much. I'm looking forward to trying it on longer runs to see how it performs.

Aside from new shoes, we were gearing up for the Rock 'n' Roll New Years Eve Half Marathon in Palm Springs.  However, we received an e-mail last night saying the race was "postponed" until next year "due to the short lead time to properly plan the event." This was a real let down as we were excited to run another race and this one looked like a lot of fun. They had already booked the bands (The B52s and Sugar Ray...jealous?) and I feel like the real reason they cancelled is because of low registration numbers. Anyway, we're looking for a new race at the end of December/beginning of January. So, if anyone has any recommendations, we're all ears.

Since today is Rosh Hashanah, I'd like to say Happy New Year to our massive Jewish fan base :)
